09. THE LURKERS "Drag You Out" (1982)

The Lurkers have always been one of my faves UK punk bands. Inspired by The Ramones or The NY Dolls as well as by the british Glam, their original recordings from 77 to 79 on Beggars Banquet are all essentials with great three chords tunes. This picture disc is the second single out on Clay records after the first band's reunion in 1982 with 3 original members: Peter Stride on guitar, Arturo Bassik on bass and Esso on drums, and new singer Mark Finchman . Clay Records was founded by Lurkers' ex manager Mike Stone and released some of the first records of hard-core punk (Exploited, Discharge). A side "Drag You Out" is a pure punk rock bomb and should have been recognized as one of the best punk tune! B Side"Heroin (It's all over)" is a classic punk. This line up disbanded in 84 but in 87, Arturo Bassik got the whole thing going again with a new line up and The Lurkers are still playing and recording. Visit their site.

Les Lurkers sont un des mes groupes punk anglais favoris. In fluencés par les Ramones ou les Dolls ainsi que par le Glam Rock, leurs enregistrements sortis sur Beggars Banquet entre 77 et 79 sont tous incontournables pour tout amateur de punk songs de 3 accords. Ce picture disc est le second single sorti sur Clay records, le label de leur ancien manager Mike Stone surlequel on retrouve Discharge ou Exploited,  après la réunion du groupe en 82 autour de Peter Stride (Gtr) Arturo Bassik (bass) et Esso (Drms) mais avec un nouveau chanteur plus hargneux Mark Finchman. LA face A "Drag You Out" est à mon gout une des meilleurs chansons de cette époque avec un coté très Heartbreakers. La face B "Heroin it's all Over" est plus classique. Après un virage new-wave avec synthès, le groupe se sépara à nouveau en 84. Arturo Bassik réunit un nouveau line-up à la fin des 80's et le groupe joue encore. Jetez un oeil à leur site.
