10.THE LUBBERS "Make You Mine" EP (1987)

I don't know much about this band and this Ep that I've found this week in a second hand record store. The Lubbers were from Amsterdam (Nederlands) and recorded this 4 songs at Oktopus Studio, it was released in early 1987 on dutch label Kelt Records wich released  a lot of cool stuff from 84 to 94 as The Other Side. The making of rhis record was the subjet of a TV film "The Lubbers maken een plaat" that shows the band in interview and studio but as my dutch is very poor i didn't understand a word! The music goes from classic garage-rock "Make You Mine" to more power-pop "I Know", my favorite is the last song "Pictures of Lily" with great mélody reminding the Jam... If you know more about this band, don't hesitate to let a comment!!

  2. Hi there!
Got intrigued by your post and since we're a cloggie ourselves, went on a google-search to see what we could find. Here's a link of Discogs for this 45- http://www.discogs.com/Lubbers-Extended-Play/release/814159 so you have a great score haha. Furthermore, there's clips on youtube to be found how the procedure (back than!) worked for making a record. Small interview with these guys at the studio (in Rotterdam, no less) and how distribution could/should work: http://youtu.be/xJEwkZeLCkI . Never heard of this band, btw. Not sure what did happen to em, probably became happy families ;-)

    1. Hi there
I was in this band and I still have a box of these in the attic. Lovely to see it appear here.
The recording was made in Amsterdam, the film in Rotterdam and the record in Belgium. We were from a place near Amsterdam.
Eventually we became happy families, yes :)
The band is still around with different drummers under different names over the years.
      greetings
