Born in 1964 in Knoxville, Tennessee, Shanon Stanfield aka Clint Clintons first played in a local band The 5 Twins who mixed power pop with punk. When the group disbanded in 1982, Shannon moved to New-York where he developed his “Clint Clinton” persona as frontman of the Clintons. By 1984 the Clintons were mainstays of Manhattan’s downtown scene, sharing stages at CBGB, Irving Plaza, and Maxwell’s with legends like Johnny Thunders, the Fleshtones and Alex Chilton. They realised their first single on Hoboken's historic label Coyote Records, produced by Eric Ambel (Del Lords). The two sides are great roots rock songs, in the same vein than that country-punk wave wich was growing back then (Jason and the Scorchers, Leroy Brothers).
Stanfield returned to Knoxville in 1986, regaining his status as a mover/shaker of the music scene as a music columnist and photographer and continuing the Clintons in various incarnations for decades. The band including veteran rhythm section Mike Knott (bass) and Rodney Cash, both later of 30 Amp Fuse, even realised a second single in 1991 "Rockin Boy"/ "1984 Johnny" on Diesel only Rec. more in the same formula wich was later used to great success by bands like The Georgia Satellites.

Né en 1964 à Knoxville, Tebnessee, Sharon Stanfielf alias Clint Clintons joua d'abord dans les "5 Twins", un combo power-pop/punk local. Après la séparation du groupe, en 1982, Shanon déménagea à New-York où il fonda The Clintons, adoptant le nom de scène de Clint Clintons. En 1984, Le groupe eu un succès local partageant les scènes du CBGB, de l'Irving Plaza ou du Maxwell's avec des légendes comme Thunders, les Fleshtones ou Alex Chilton. Leur premier single sortit sur le label légendaire de Hoboken Coyote Records, produit par Eric Ambel (Del Lords). Les deux faces présentent des bonnes compos de rock'n'roll roots dans la veine de ce que l'on appela la vague country-punk avec des groupes comme les Scorchers ou les Leroy Brothers.
En 86, Stanfield retourna à Knoxville où il devint vite un agitateur de la scène rock locale exerçant comme journaliste musical et photographe tout en continuant The Clintons sous différentes formations, incluant notamment Mike Knott et Rodney Cash (30 Amp Fuse). En 1991, un second single "Rockin Boy"/ "1984 Johnny" fut édité par le label Diesel Only dans un esprit proche des Georgia Satellites.
Hélas, Shanon Stanfield est décédé d'un cancer en 2010....
